Florida Farmers Markets

Florida Farmers Markets or Corporate Grocery Stores Produce?

The rich and fertile soil plus the excellent growing conditions in Florida produces some of the best produce around.  The healthy foods from local farms might be fully organic or not but without any doubt, the produce you will find in a Florida farmers market will be superior to what you’ll get in a normal grocery store.

Your everyday food shopping experience can easily become a bore.  But shopping at a Florida Farmers Market is an exciting experience! Here is the big difference in a nutshell.  A farmer seeking to grow food for his or her family and to stake his or reputation on it, is exactly what a farmers market is aiming for – the best quality and flavor.  The big corporate farm that dumps its products onto the grocery store’s shelves only wants to maximize the yield per unit of farmable land.

Florida Farmers Markets

Which philosophy would you rather support?  Do you want Florida farmers market produce or some biomass that was force-grown somewhere in South America before being harvested by cheap exploited labor and treated with whatever substances necessary for it to survive the very long distance during transport?

The answer is simple really.  Support local agriculture and eat local and seasonal fruits and vegetables! For you, the choice should be easy.  You want farmers market produce on your dinner table for several reasons.

Firstly, you’ll like fruits and vegetables that are fresh, tasty, nutritious, and that aren’t loaded with growth hormones, pesticide residue, and ultra-powerful preservatives.  Some grocery store produce keeps for so unnaturally long, they must be treating it with God knows what. Perhaps a “Big Food Corporation” embalmed it before shipping it.  Obviously, you should be looking for the nearest farmers market in Florida instead of driving to the corporate grocery store, right?

That’s where we come in. We’ve done all the hard work finding the Florida Farmers Markets for you.  And, we update the information about them seasonally, so there’s no need to keep doing new Farmers Market reasearch each year.

Secondly, the money spent on Florida farmers market produce stays in the local economy.  Buying locally simulates the local marketplace where you live and that’s good for you plus everyone nearby.  As for the money generated by produce sales at the supermarket, well, we all know where that’s going and it’s certainly not improving the standard of living in the impoverished nations where cheap labor is being exploited to turn out the low overhead cost biomass (cheap food).

Thirdly, does there even have to be a thirdly or are you sold on farmers markets from the first two already?  Well, you should be, okay, I’ll stretch for it… A Florida farmers market is a place where you can actually ask a farmer or producer about his or her wares.  The farmer planted it, tended it, harvested it and transported the produce to the farmers market – FRESH!  They can personally attest to the quality.  What would a produce manager at the corporate grocery store have to tell you?  ”Uh, it came in a bad-smelling carton from a long way away. Maybe it was sprayed and irradiated with poisons, I don’t know. Funny though, I had to scrub some bluish-green mold off before putting it onto the shelf and I think I saw an unrecognizable spider scurrying away when I opened the lid.”
